Living in a historic building in Sinalunga

Palazzo Nocciolini's exact date of construction is not known. What is known is that it was built in several stages over time.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the building did not have the same structure as it has today. It consisted of a smaller original body which is still clearly visible. In the oldest parts of the building, dating back to the 19th century, the original design and architectural features have been preserved, such as the old vaulted ceilings. In the newer parts of the buildings ceilings are made of plastered "campigiane" brick tiles.

In 1905 works to expand the body of the Palazzo were started. These works were concluded in 1910 when Palazzo Nocciolini finally assumed its current look: an imposing building with a tower.

Supposedly, the main entrance originally opened onto Via Molinara, in what is currently the back of the building. The main entrance was moved to its current position on Viale Trieste, the main street of Sinalunga, at the time of the expansion in the early 20th century. At that time, Viale Trieste had become the busiest and most important street in Sinalunga, thanks to the advent of the railway in the first decades of the 1900s. Palazzo Nocciolini is located at the foot of the hill dominated by the old city centre, approximately 50m from the railway station.

The renovations carried out by Immobiluno have restored the original entrance of the building on Via Molinara and have improved the entrance on the central via Trieste.

The rustic Tuscan style: Living tradition

All the recoverable traditional Tuscan elements were preserved so as to respect the original urban landscape of the area: the valuable brick roof-gutter belt was in good conditions and was improved through a cleaning and sanding intervention.

The central travertine staircase was also well preserved and in good condition.

The restoration brought Palazzo Nocciolini back to its original 1910 appearance through the removal of later additions to the original body of the building, such as some doors and windows opened in the back and an external service staircase.

The main entrance wooden door and the beautiful iron railings on the terraces have also been restored.
